As Of Counsel to Silverman Theologou LLP, Mr. Varkas handles a wide range of matters for our credit union clients in Florida. Specifically, Mr. Varkas’ work primarily focuses on the negotiation, resolution and collection of consumer debt, which includes both filing and litigating claims throughout the State of Florida to recover all monies due and owing. As a business litigation attorney of more than ten years, Mr. Varkas also has extensive experience in the areas of Florida HOA/COA law, landlord-tenant disputes, real estate litigation, and business torts. Mr. Varkas has handled cases from inception to discovery, trial and appeal.
Prior to joining Silverman Theologou LLP as Of Counsel, Mr. Varkas primarily worked as an Associate for Sweetapple, Broeker & Varkas, PL, a boutique business litigation law firm, where he developed his arsenal of litigation skills from both his father and Robert A. Sweetapple, Esq., a board-certified business litigation and trial attorney with more than thirty-five years of experience. As a law school student, Mr. Varkas completed a semester internship at the Broward County State Attorney’s Office (Homicide and Appellate Divisions). Mr. Varkas went on to graduate from St. Thomas University School of Law in May of 2010, a full semester early, earning Dean’s List Honors in his final semester.
In May 2003, Mr. Varkas received his Bachelor of Arts in Latin-American Studies from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Varkas is licensed to practice before the courts in the State of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Varkas is a member of the Broward County Bar Association and is in the process of earning his board certification in business litigation.
